Many military officers and non-commissioned officers transition into civilian careers as production managers. The duties of non-commissioned officers in the military are very similar to a production manager in the civilian world. A military officer, like a production manager, will have experience managing a team and will be able to best deploy the expertise of each person on their team as well as direct their essential roles and overall chemistry.
Production managers ensure the coordination of departmental functions to ensure the business unit is operating to the highest standard of safety, quality, customer service and financial objectives. Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the activities of production personnel – providing leadership, direction and facilitation.
Most production manager roles have a base salary in the $65k-$110k range annually. This figure may or may not include overtime pay; includes company benefits; may include performance bonuses. Ask a potential employer for a specific compensation breakdown. An average shift usually lasts from 8-12 hours. Nights and weekends may be required.
