Your security clearance resume

I receive a lot of questions regarding the placement of a security clearance on a military resume.  Many separating military members gain employment in defense contracting where they can utilize their military training.  These jobs typically require background checks.  Therefore, a security clearance becomes a valuable asset.  But increasingly, the medical, telecommunications, security, education, and financial fields (among others) are seeking out candidates with current security clearances.

When employers do not have to invest time and money into a background check, it gives an equally qualified candidate with a security clearance a definite competitive edge.  The money saved may even increase a new employee’s salary by $5,000 to $15,000 some experts say.
