RecruitMilitary Will Present Jobs and Education Event for Veterans in New Orleans on February 10
New Orleans, LA – (PR Log) – Jan 08, 2010 — The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free employment, education, and entrepreneurship event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in New Orleans on Wednesday, February 10. This event, the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo, will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots. The firm is inviting veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, military spouses, and other military family members.
The Opportunity Expo will be the fifth of 73 such events that RecruitMilitary has scheduled for 2010. Organizations attending those events will include corporate employers, law-enforcement agencies and other government employers, educational institutions, franchisors, veterans service agencies, and veterans associations. From 2007 through 2009, more than 1,675 organizations attended 215 Expos.
Already signed up to attend the New Orleans event are Acadiana Sheetmetal, Arkel Constructors, Inc., Cox Communications, Eaton Corporation, Military Sealift Command, Northrop Grumman, Prudential, Spring Hill College, and Whelan Security.
RecruitMilitary will produce the Expo in cooperation with Purple Heart Services; The American Legion; HireVetsFirst, a unit of the United States Department of Labor; and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN).
Purple Heart Services (http://www.purpleheartservices.com) provides programs and services to meet the needs of the combat-wounded and their families—including Purple Heart Radio, an online school called Veterans Vocational Technical Institute (VetTech), Purple Heart Call Center, and Purple Heart Tech Support. The American Legion (http://www.legion.org) is an association of veterans who served during times of war. HireVetsFirst was created by Congress in 2002 to develop awareness among employers of the outstanding attributes of men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life. The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (http://www.msccn.org) was founded in 2004 to provide career opportunities and job portability for military spouses. The organization is made up of military spouses, caregivers to war wounded, and retired military personnel.
