RecruitMilitary to Receive Award for Presenting Job Opportunities to People with Disabilities
Cincinnati, Feb 22, 2012 — RecruitMilitary, the premier provider of veteran hiring services to companies nationwide, is proud to announce that it will receive the “One More Way Award” in recognition of its outstanding work in raising awareness of qualified job seekers with disabilities and presenting job opportunities to them. The Sierra Group Foundation, whose main mission is to reverse the high unemployment rate for people with disabilities, selected RecruitMilitary as the One More Way Award beneficiary for its outstanding veteran connection work in 2011.
Larry Slagel, Vice President of Sales and a former Marine captain, will receive the award during the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, February 23, at the Washington Hilton. Presenting the award will be Janet Fiore, co-founder and board president of The Sierra Group Foundation (http://www.thesierragroup.com/foundation.htm).
More than 1,300 veterans have registered to attend the veteran hiring event in Washington. Fifty-five companies, educational institutions, and franchisors will be present to interview and network with the veterans.
“We have partnered with The Sierra Group Foundation since 2007 to assist them in their mission. The results have been rewarding for both of our organizations, and ultimately the veterans we serve. This partnership has enabled RecruitMilitary to help another organization while we help our veterans; it’s a win-win for everyone,” said Slagel.
The One More Way award acknowledges RecruitMilitary’s gratuitous Job Board access granted to The Sierra Group Foundation, which in turn helps them assist the disabled veterans they serve. The Job Board currently offers over 325,000 jobs for veteran applicants. Jobs are searchable by customized criteria, enabling candidates to find near-perfect matches with their skill sets. With this complete access, The Sierra Group Foundation was able to train and guide disabled veterans on use of the system, and ultimately help them make employer connections to obtain jobs.
