U.S. Chamber and RecruitMilitary Collaborating on Vet Hiring Event in Concord, NC, on November 17
Concord, NC (PR Log) October 18, 2011 – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the military-to-civilian recruitment firm RecruitMilitary will collaborate on a hiring event for military veterans at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, on Thursday, November 17. This event, the Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expo, will be part of a nationwide initiative to increase the hiring of veterans by producing special career fair hiring events. The event will take place in the Speedway Club, and will run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The RecruitMilitary-U.S. Chamber initiative will help Corporate America respond to a challenge issued on August 5 by President Barack Obama. Speaking at the Washington Navy Yard, the President challenged businesses to hire or train 100,000 unemployed veterans or their spouses by the end of 2013.
On March 24, the U.S. Chamber had already launched “Business Steps Up: Hiring Our Heroes,” a year-long effort to help veterans and their spouses find employment by means of veteran hiring events. The U.S. Chamber has scheduled more than 100 Hiring Our Heroes events across the nation through March 2012.
Already scheduled to attend the event in Concord are Albemarle Corporation, CA Technologies, City of Winston-Salem Police Department, DeVry University, First Command Financial Planning, Gardner-Webb University, Georgia School of Construction, Grand Canyon University, Homeland Security Solutions Inc., the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Level One – A Real Page Company, Limestone College, Lowe’s, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Snap-On Tools, Strayer University, The Art Institutes, The Entrepreneur’s Source, Troy University, Union Institute and University, and Verizon Wireless.
The Concord event and an event in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on the same day will be the 10th and 11th of 13 Hiring Our Heroes/RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expos produced by RecruitMilitary in 2011. The remaining two will take place on December 1 in San Diego and December 8 in Houston.
To maximize the number of employers participating in those events as well as the job opportunities for veterans and military spouses, RecruitMilitary is offering companies that are members of the U.S. Chamber and local chambers a 10% discount on the cost of their exhibition booths. Additionally, RecruitMilitary will offer further price reductions for small businesses (businesses that have less than 50 employees), and even lower rates for veteran-owned small businesses.
