RecruitMilitary Schedules Free Veteran Opportunity Expo for Norfolk on October 21

Norfolk, VA (PR Log) September 16, 2010 – The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free employment, entrepreneurship, and education event for job seekers who have military backgrounds in Norfolk on Thursday, October 21. This event, the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo, will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center at Nauticus. The event will be open to veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, military spouses, and other military family members.

RecruitMilitary (www.recruitmilitary.com) will produce the Opportunity Expo in cooperation with The American Legion (http://www.legion.org).

The Opportunity Expo will be the 62nd of 74 such events set for 2010. A large array of veteran-friendly organizations will conduct one-on-one interviews with the job seekers—organizations that will include corporate employers, law-enforcement agencies and other government employers, franchisors, and educational institutions. Already in the line-up are Aeroframe Services, Amtrak, Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Capella University, Capital One, Chesterfield County Police Department, Corinthian Colleges, Inc., DeVry University, G4S (Wackenhut), Goodman Manufacturing Company, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), ITT Educational Services, Merchant’s Tire and National Tire and Battery, Nalco Energy Services—Downstream, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Office Pride, Strayer University, The Art Institutes, United States Customs and Border Protection, URS Corporation—Washington Group, Verizon Wireless, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Xe Company.

RecruitMilitary has scheduled 12 additional Veteran Opportunity Expos for 2010 and 60 Expos for 2011. The events will take place in Atlanta, Baltimore, Birmingham, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk (on May 12 and November 17, 2011), Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Richmond, St. Louis, San Antonio, San Diego, San Jose, Tacoma, Tampa, and Washington.
