Military Sealift Command to Sponsor Jobs and Education Event for Veterans in San Diego on June 24

San Diego, CA (PR Log) June 9, 2010 – RecruitMilitary, a military-to-civilian recruiting firm based in Cincinnati, has announced that Military Sealift Command (MSC) will sponsor a RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expo in San Diego on June 24. At this event, MSC and other employers as well as franchisors and educational institutions will interview job seekers who have military backgrounds—men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, veterans who already have business experience, members of the National Guard and reserves, and military spouses.

The Expo will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at NTC Promenade—The Corky McMillan Companies Event Center. Admission will be free to the job seekers. RecruitMilitary will produce the Expo in cooperation with The American Legion and Purple Heart Services.

MSC operates approximately 110 noncombatant, civilian-crewed ships that replenish United States Navy ships, conduct specialized missions, strategically position combat cargo at sea around the world, and move military cargo and supplies used by deployed United States forces and coalition partners. MSC vessels include ammunition ships, combat stores ships, dry cargo/ammunition ships, fast combat support ships, underway replenishment oilers, fleet ocean tugs, hospital ships, and rescue/salvage ships. The company is headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia.

MSC recruits transitioning and veteran military as civilian mariners (CIVMARs) for its Deck, Engine, Supply, Communications, and Medical departments. The company is specifically recruiting CIVMARs for its Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force (NFAF). The 41 ships of the NFAF are the supply lines to U.S. Navy ships at sea. These ships provide virtually everything that Navy ships need, including fuel, food, ordnance, spare parts, mail, and other supplies. MSC is inviting job seekers who plan to attend the San Diego Expo to stop by the company booth to learn more about the NFAF and the CIVMAR positions.

RecruitMilitary has produced Veteran Opportunity Expos since 2006. More than 1,675 organizations attended 215 RecruitMilitary evens from 2007 through 2009.
