RecruitMilitary to Present Civilian Jobs/Opportunities Expo for Veterans in Washington on June 24
Washington, D.C. (PR Log) May 21, 2010 – RecruitMilitary, a military-to-civilian recruiting firm, will present a free civilian employment, entrepreneurship, and education Opportunity Expo for job seekers who have military backgrounds in Washington on Thursday, June 24. This event will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Verizon Center. The company is inviting veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, military spouses, and other military family members.
The Northern Virginia Society for Human Resource Management (NOVA SHRM) will sponsor the Expo; and, to honor our veterans, the Washington Mystics of the Women’s National Basketball Association will give game tickets to up to 500 job seekers at the event. The Mystics play at the Verizon Center, which is also home to the Washington Wizards and the Washington Capitals.
RecruitMilitary expects more than 30 employers, franchisors, and educational institutions to reserve booths for the Expo. Already signed up are the Academy for Educational Development (AED), Aegis, LLC, the Army National Guard, Computer Sciences Corporation, Defense Logistics Agency—Aberdeen, Dell Perot Systems Government Services Unit, the District of Columbia Army National Guard, Eaton Corporation, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), ITT Industries – Advanced Engineering and Sciences, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Merchant’s Tire and National Tire & Battery, Nitek, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Omniplex World Services Corporation, OPNET Technologies, Inc., Pepco Holdings, Inc., Schlumberger, Snap-On Tools, the Social Security Administration, The Art Institutes, UltiSat, Inc., University of Texas Medical Branch, and the United States Army Recruiting Command.

Purple Heart Services (http://www.purpleheartservices.com) works on behalf of combat-wounded individuals and their families. Its programs and services include Purple Heart Radio, an online school named Veterans Vocational Technical Institute (VetTech), the Purple Heart Call Center, and Purple Heart Tech Support.
The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (http://www.msccn.org) was founded in 2004 to provide career opportunities and job portability for military spouses. Members include military spouses, caregivers to war wounded, and retired military personnel.
Congress created HireVetsFirst in 2002 to develop awareness among employers of the outstanding attributes of men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life.
The Washington event will be the 37th RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo of 2010, and 37 more events will take place before the end of the year.
