Career and Education Expo for Veterans Scheduled for Dallas Area on June 17
Dallas, TX (PR Log) May 14, 2010 – A civilian recruitment event for military veterans and their spouses will take place on Thursday, June 17, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers. RecruitMilitary, LLC, based in Cincinnati, will produce this Veteran Opportunity Expo in cooperation with HireVetsFirst, a unit of the United States Department of Labor; the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN); Purple Heart Services; and The American Legion. RecruitMilitary is also inviting personnel who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life as well as members of the National Guard and reserves. The Expo will begin at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m.
RecruitMilitary expects over 30 employers, franchisors, and educational institutions to interview job seekers at the Expo. Already scheduled are Argosy University/Denver, AutoNation, Bank of America, Capella University, Central Parking, the Dallas Police Department, DeVry University, Fantastic Sams, Home Depot, Lincoln College of Technology, Logix Communications, Malin Integrated Handling Solutions and Designs, Military Sealift Command, Northrop Grumman, Northwood University, Packers Sanitation, Snap-On Tools, the Social Security Administration’s Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR), Strom Aviation, The Art Institutes, The Dwyer Group, The Entrepreneur Authority, University of Phoenix – Las Colinas Learning Center, VA North Texas Health Care System, Vandergriff Honda, and Verizon Wireless.
RecruitMilitary has also scheduled 38 additional events for 2010. Those Expos will take place in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Birmingham, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas (on September 16 and December 2), Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Norfolk, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Diego, San Jose, Tacoma, and Washington.
Congress created HireVetsFirst in 2002 to develop awareness among employers of the outstanding attributes of men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life.
The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (http://www.msccn.org) was founded in 2004 to provide career opportunities and job portability for military spouses. Members include military spouses, caregivers to war wounded, and retired military personnel.
Purple Heart Services (http://www.purpleheartservices.com) works to meet the needs of combat-wounded individuals and their families. Among its programs and services are Purple Heart Radio, an online school named Veterans Vocational Technical Institute (VetTech), the Purple Heart Call Center, and Purple Heart Tech Support. Purple Heart Services is part of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation. The Military Order of the Purple Heart was founded in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all personnel who have received the Purple Heart decoration.
The American Legion (http://www.legion.org) is an association of veterans who served during times of war. The association has 2.7 million members in nearly 15,000 posts throughout the world. Congress chartered the Legion in 1919.
